New Day Dawning

I am fascinated by the play of light and shadows. This pastel painting was inspired by a photo of the rising sun on a winter morning. I used an under painting with Nupastels and an alcohol wash on UArt paper followed by a mix of pastels, including primarily Terry Ludwig, Schmincke, Girault and NuPastels. It is my wish that the viewer experiences the awe and sheer joy of the dawning of a new day with all of its promises.
