This painting is based on a photo taken during the height of the azaleas in Asheville, NC. The sight of those bushes took my breath away because of their beauty and color. I did this painting this spring when things were flowering in Chicago. It is done on Pastelmat with an underpainting of bright pink acrylic paint using a variety of soft pastels.
