Road to Adventure

A lot of long trips on roads to familiar places can dull your senses of your surroundings after several hours. Initially the excitement of starting out,,eating in new places and all the plans you have in mind for your destination recede as the miles add up. At some point most of us have a slow awareness that we are getting close to the adventure ahead. This long curve into the red rocks ahead is “my” point. It signals that we’re nearing the end of 1500 miles to one of my favorite places in my well logged travel book. Dubois, Wyoming. That sweeping curve leads to the ancient red rocks and the Wind River below and is within the last 10 miles of, at least, a couple of weeks of nature, horses and mountains.
